To prepare students for higher education and enable our future citizens to cope with the emerging needs of the 21st century, Nepal has adopted a system of 12 years school education. For this, Higher Secondary Board (HSEB) was established and it implemented the new improved curriculum that intends to equip the students with the necessary skills and knowledge in the level. The pattern of the HSEB examination was also set in a way different for the traditional one. The exam taken by HSEB requires students to have mastery over the whole course without giving chances for selection. HSEB has set 35 % as the minimum marks which inheritates the British colonial system that was introduced in our neighboring country India Long back.
